Dalton McGuinty is spending a meagre $125 million dollars in 2006-07 in his supposed ‘Green Budget’ including the provision of $6 million a year for home energy audits, $2 million for tree planting, and $1.5 million support volunteers delivering energy-efficient light bulbs to homes this summer.
Dalton McGuinty states that he will spend $200 million over three years for unspecified ‘climate change initiatives.’
Despite much fanfare heralding his proposed Endangered Species Act, Dalton McGuinty has cut the Ministry of Natural Resources budget by $32 million, and has made it virtually impossible for the already struggling Ministry of Natural Resources to implement the legislation should it be passed.
Dalton McGuinty is dividing a paltry $305,000 among six municipalities for apartment recycling pilot projects. This insulting investment comes mere weeks after his Environment Minister was forced to admit that she and Dalton McGuinty will break their 60 per cent waste diversion promise.
