Your Money. Your Vote.

Since taking office in 2003, Dalton McGuinty has increased government spending by over $22 billion annually but is not delivering the results Ontarians deserve. As a consequence Ontario is limping along instead of running.

Here's how Dalton McGuinty is spending your money...

  • He rejected outright a plan by Don Mills Surgical Ltd. paid under OHIP that would see 1,500 knee replacements performed for $1,082 (a 15 percent savings) less than the cost to perform the same procedure in a community hospital. People would have been able to receive better service and the province would save at least $1.6 million that could then be reinvested to provide an additional 276 knee replacements.
  • Dalton McGuinty spent $6 million to remove the "C" from Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLGC) logo. The money went toward design, changing signage and a massive cross-province advertising campaign. The OLCG has no competition in the province of Ontario.
  • Dalton McGuinty spent $91 million to fire nurses. Despite taking in $2.5 billion in new money from the McGuinty health tax his government has fired hundreds of nursing professionals.
  • Dalton McGuinty spent $1.4 million on Ministry of Health hotel rooms last year. This amount is the equivalent of 10,117 nights in hotels in one year, plus a full year in a chalet. In addition to this, the Ministry also spent $6.1 million on travel around the province.
  • Dalton McGuinty spent $2 million on a misleading advertising campaign that said “the doctor will see you now.” Advertising Standards Canada found this to be false advertising.
  • Dalton McGuinty spent $1.2 million on Ministry of Education hotel rooms, mostly in the Toronto region. This is more than the grant to the Northern District School Area Board and double the grant to the Asquith-Garvey District School Area Board. This amount would also wipe out the whole shortfall facing the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board.
  • Dalton McGuinty spent $100,000 for a pair of luxury vehicles. A CBC report states that the SUVs were given to several Children's Aid Societies (CAS) executives. The CBC also reports that over $1 billion in taxpayer dollars is being spent each year by the CAS without any oversight by the government.
